People from Pleasley Hill ward and particularly Bull Farm have joined together to form a Village Compnay. The Village Company, which is known as Bull Farm Enterprise and Regeneration Society Ltd (BEARS), was established on 16th August 2003.
BEARS is the youngest Village Company and is in the process of researching projects and businesses. They are looking into a Handyperson/Domestic Services. There in the process of producing a Business Plan and looking for funding. BEARS is having a market survey done to prove the need for the service. Pleasley Hill ward has a population of 3,971 of which 33% are retired or inactive, disabled, looking after home/family. In the Indices of Deprivation 2000 health Pleasley Hill Ward is ranked 419 out of the 8414 wards in England making the the top (5%).
BEARS works closly with "BUDDIES" and the BUll Farm Neighbourhood Management Team and although the youngest Village company, has already started the process of researching projects and businesses.
The main project currently being researched is the development of a Handyperson & Domestic Service Business. The research includes obtaining the views of local people. If found positive a business plan will be prepared and funding sought. In view of the high percentage of older and disabled people it is felt that this service is very much needed.
