Shirebrook & Langwith Junction Enterprise Ltd

 

The Shirebrook & Langwith Junction Village Company was incorporated on 12th February 2002 as an Industrial & Provident Society.  Anyone over the age of 18 who lives or works in Shirebrook or Langwith Junction can become a shareholder for £1 for life.  This gives the person the right to attend annual general meetings, vote on key decisions and stand for Board Membership.

The Enterprise is run by volunteer directors who are mainly local community representatives, many of whom are involved in a wide variety of community and voluntary groups so have a clear view on the needs of the local community.

The Enterprise has been running a Resource Centre in the Market Place at Shirebrook which offers a signposting service to the general public and advice and support to Community and Voluntary Groups.

In addition the Enterprise is also running the "Promote-4-U" project from the Resource Centre base which provides a variety of "personalised" giftware and pomotional goods including T-shirts, mugs, mouse mats, pens, pencils, rulers and many others.  In addition artists can have thier masterpieces reproduced on a range of papers and inks including oils on canvas up to 24" wide and as long as they wish.  This also applies to family photographs.  The intention is for the project to be set up as a Social Enterprise when funding targets are achieved.

  • To create community businesses, jobs and training opportunities
  • To run businesses which will use their profits for community benefit.
  • To contribute to imorovements and the continued regeneration of Shirebrook and Langwith Junction
  • To improve the environment
  • To enable local agencies to work together for the benefit of the local community
