Whaley Thorns and Langwith Village Company

The Whaley Thorns and Langwith Village company was inaugurated in November 1999 as a company Limited by Guarantee and was the first such venture to be created in the Meden Valley area.

Its directors are drawn from the community, local business, local authorities and from Leicester Housing Association Limited.

The aims of the company are as diverse and inclusive as possible with the overall ethos being the generation of income that can be channelled back into the community.

The Village Company has an office/resource centre in the centre of the village where people can call in to gather information and take part in the development of projects.

The Village Company has already set up a number of business and projects:-

The Whispering Wood - Willow Whips for Art and Crafts products
The Langwith Village Press
A RENT-A-DESK facility 
The Village company office base / resource centre
